The Manchester VA is currently seeking a Chief of Staff with proven leadership skills and a record of acamic achievement who can build upon the strengths of our current clinical services. Generally, a Monday – Friday position.
In collaboration with the Medical Center Director, the Chief of Staff assists in the development, organization, implementation and support of patient care, medical education, and research activities of the clinical and allied health services. Through persuasive and facilitative skills, influences the quality and effectiveness of all medical programs through either direct line leadership or collaborative relations with Service Chiefs. Communicates directly with the VISN 1 Chief Medical Officer regarding the quality and coordination of patient care across the continuum and issues related to one standard of care at the facility.
Leadership: Directs the medical staff governance, by-laws and credentialing and privileging; ensures all patients receive high quality, efficient, timely and appropriate care with the highest professional and ethical standards and quality of care; ensures the highest level of performance by Medical Staff members through appropriate delineation of clinical privileges, ongoing performance evaluations, orientation and use of continuous quality improvement practices; in conjunction with affiliated institutions provides an appropriate educational and research setting which will maintain professional standards and continue to improve medical skills and knowledge; completes performance evaluations of assigned service line managers and clinical service chiefs; responsible for the standard of medical care and the professional integration of services across service lines; responsible for driving a culture of improvement.
Credentialing and Privileging: Authority and accountability of credentialing and privileging as Chair of the Medical Executive Board (MEB); interprets regulatory and legal issues, monitoring medical staff and other licensed independent practitioner's compliance and quality of practice; initiates appropriate actions such as discipline, revocation or suspension of all or selected individual privileging.
Affiliation and Research: Responsible for the oversight and accountability of all clinical training programs; ensures continued compliance with accreditation requirements of clinical training programs, including graduate medical education, nursing education, and other associated health programs; working relationship with the Medical School Dean and Department Chairs (Dartmouth and Boston University) with regard to residents, training of students, faculty appointments, research, and recruitment of new faculty; works with service chiefs to effectively integrate affiliation goals and specific requirements for equal employment opportunity, diversity and inclusion.
The position requires US citizenship, M.D. with full, active licensure, and Board Certification. A Recruitment/ Relocation Incentive may be available. Relocation Expenses (PCS) may be available.
