Full-time position is for Communitiy Memorial Hospital in Hamilton, NY
The Health Information Management (HIM) Coordinator completes a variety of duties related to the timely and accurate review, retrieval and release of medical information. This includes but is not limited to; answering and directing incoming phone calls, sorting and logging of all HIM mail, and applying the proper pre-established hospital, departmental, and/or legal policies and procedures to each request for release of medical record information. Job Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. with two (2) or more years experience in a Health Information Management environment. In lieu of work experience, a current certification from Accredited Health Information Management Program or RHIT/RHIA eligibility in progress. If RHIT/RHIA eligible, certification must be established within one (1) year of graduating from the respective program. Special Skills/Equipment: Must have the ability to manage time effectively and communicate in a professional manner. Must have the ability to type a minimum of 45 adjusted words per minute. Must successfully pass a medical terminology test with a pass grade of 75% or higher. Typing and medical terminology tests will be administered by Human Resources.
